CALEFFI XF – Self-cleaning, semi-automatic dirt separator and sludge extractor
Function
The CALEFFI XF removes impurities from the first flow, thereby continuously protecting generators and devices in the hydraulic circuit from deposits. The system operates in three stages: a primary separation screen, a central magnet, and a dirt trap in the outlet, effectively separating solids and magnetic particles.
Thanks to the large filter surfaces and the separate pre-separation, the risk of clogging the dirt trap screen is minimized. The device is rotatable and can be installed in both horizontal and vertical pipelines.
Construction and Materials
The housing is made of PA66G30, the upper closure and the vent screw are made of brass EN 12164 CW617N. Other components include a T-piece made of brass EN 1982 CB 753S, internal elements and internal brushes made of PA66, and EPDM seals.
Performance and Operating Conditions
The CALEFFI XF is designed for water and glycol solutions with a maximum glycol content of 30%. The maximum operating pressure is 3 bar, and the temperature range is between 0 and 90 °C. The screen mesh size is 160 μm, and magnetic shielding is provided by three magnets, each with 0.475 T.
The housing volume is 0.53 liters for the 1" and 1 1/4" versions, and 0.6 liters for the 1 1/2" version.
Housing Sizes
The dirt separator is available in connection sizes 1", 1 1/4", and 1 1/2", making it suitable for different piping systems and flow rates.
Installation and Maintenance
The rotatable design allows for flexible installation in horizontal and vertical lines. Maintenance can be performed without shutting down the system: internal cleaning brushes enable semi-automatic cleaning and reduce downtime.
The separation of pre-separation and the integrated cleaning functions reduce the need for manual intervention and the risk of malfunctions due to clogged screens.
Benefits and Applications
The CALEFFI XF provides reliable protection against dirt and magnetic particles, extends the service life of heat generators, pumps, and valves, and reduces maintenance costs. It is particularly suitable for heating and cooling systems as well as other closed water circuits.
The combination of mechanical and magnetic separation, along with the possibility of operation without shutdown, makes the device an economical solution for modern building services.
