Product Overview & Application Area
The ATTACK SLX 40 PROFI is a hand-fed wood gasification boiler with a nominal output of 40 kW for closed hot water heating systems. The output range of 20 to 40 kW and the large-volume filling chamber make it particularly interesting for buildings and systems with a correspondingly high, professionally determined heat demand.
The intended fuel is dry, split firewood with a moisture content of about 12 to 20 percent. The permissible log length for this size is up to 750 mm. The selection of boiler output does not replace a heat load calculation and must be matched to the building, heat distribution, chimney, and buffer tank.
Technology & Equipment
The boiler operates on the wood gasification principle with an induced draft fan and separately guided primary and secondary air. The filling chamber holds 230 liters. The resulting wood gases are afterburned in the lower combustion chamber, and the heat is then transferred to the heating water via a tubular heat exchanger with turbulators.
The PROFI control processes the boiler and flue gas temperatures and adjusts the fan speed to the operating state. In addition, it can control the heating circuit pump and optionally a hot water or buffer tank charging pump. When approaching the set boiler temperature, the output is reduced, and the fan is switched off when the setpoint is reached.
Everyday Benefits
The large filling chamber allows long logs to be loaded and, with a suitable system output, reduces the number of required refills. As a guide value, the SLX 40 is specified with a burn time of about six hours per full load at nominal operation.
The externally accessible turbulator lever supports regular cleaning of the heat exchanger flues. This helps reduce deposits and supports heat transfer through the tubular heat exchanger during operation.
System Integration & Compatibility
For the ATTACK SLX 40 PROFI, a buffer tank with a nominal volume of 3,000 liters is recommended. The final tank size depends on boiler output, system hydraulics, building, and operating mode. Flow and return connections are designed with G 2 inch threads.
A suitable return temperature control must ensure a return temperature of at least 65 °C. In addition, a sufficiently sized safety valve, a thermal drain safety device on the integrated cooling circuit, appropriate pressure maintenance, and a permanently secured heat dissipation are required.
The chimney and flue gas pipe must be designed for a required draft of 23 Pa. The flue gas connection has a diameter of 150 mm.

Installation
Installation, chimney design, hydraulic connection, electrical connection, initial commissioning, and safety inspection may only be carried out by appropriately qualified specialists. The installation room must be frost-free, adequately ventilated, and suitable for solid fuel boilers.
The boiler may only be operated with effective return temperature control, thermal drain safety device, safety valve, suitable pressure maintenance, and an adequately sized buffer tank. The chimney, flue gas path, and combustion air supply must be designed according to the specific installation.
Notes
For trouble-free operation, dry split logs with a moisture content of approximately 12 to 20 percent should be used. Wood that is too moist can reduce performance and combustion quality and promote tar and condensate formation.
The ash area, combustion chamber, heat exchanger flues, turbulators, flue gas path, and fan must be regularly checked and cleaned according to operating intensity. The design of the entire system and boiler output must be based on proper heat load and system planning.
