The latest version now also supports OpenTherm (OT)

OpenTherm (OT for short) is a protocol developed for controlling central heating systems using room thermostats. OpenTherm uses point-to-point communication, with the thermostat typically acting as the master and the heat generator as the slave. Multiple devices can be connected using multipoint-to-point communication.

OpenTherm is manufacturer-independent. A controller from manufacturer A can communicate with a heater from manufacturer B.

A digital, bidirectional data exchange takes place between the thermostat (master) and the heater (slave). Sending status reports and requesting information between the two devices is possible. However, the most common command relates to controlling the boiler temperature. When the heater receives the setpoint temperature request, it begins to modulate (increase or decrease the heat output) to reach and maintain the setpoint temperature. The room thermostat continuously recalculates the boiler temperature to keep the room temperature at the setpoint. This leads to greater energy efficiency.
