The MDC 230 Bundle Module Heating Rod 3 kW 230 V combines an MDC 230 heating module for central heating systems with the matching WEHP3230 heating rod. The bundle is intended for the additional introduction of heat into heating water and supports heating systems in which an electric supplementary heating module is to be integrated into the heating circuit.
Its use is suitable as supplementary heating, post-heating, frost protection support, emergency heat support, or for utilizing surplus electricity in the heating circuit, provided that the system, controls, safety devices, and electrical integration are professionally designed for this purpose.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 230 module forms the hydraulic part of the bundle. It features a steel tank, 50 mm thick polyurethane foam insulation, a plastic outer casing, and a heating circuit connection with G 1 1/4 inch female thread.
The WEHP3230 heating rod is the electric heating cartridge in the bundle. It operates with 3.0 kW rated power at 230 V, has an integrated thermostat, a temperature control range of approx. 20 to 70 °C, and is integrated into the MDC module via the heating cartridge connection G 1 1/2 inch.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle brings together the main components required for electric supplementary heat in the heating circuit. As a result, the MDC module and heating rod do not need to be separately matched to each other, provided that the system conditions match the selected power and voltage.
The combination supports a smooth, technically comprehensible expansion of existing central heating systems. Particularly relevant here are the 230 V version, the manageable rated power of 3.0 kW, and the clear separation between the hydraulic module and the electric heating cartridge.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 230 heating module is integrated into the parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. The medium can be water or a glycol mixture suitable for heating systems with a concentration of up to 50%.
For operation, a minimum flow rate of 171 l/h, corresponding to approx. 2.85 l/min, must be ensured. In addition, a suitable circulation pump, a functioning safety valve, and proper electrical integration are required.

Installation
Hydraulic installation is carried out in a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. The system must be completely filled, vented, and checked for leaks before the electrical supply is connected.
Installation, electrical connection and commissioning may only be carried out by qualified specialists. For proper operation, the minimum flow rate, an additional circulation pump and the appropriate safety devices must be taken into account.
Notes
The heating element must not be operated dry. The module may only be operated with a functioning safety valve, and no shut-off valves may be installed between the safety valve and the heating module.
