Product Overview & Application Area
The GEMA MDC 230 Bundle Module + Immersion Heater TEHP2302 2.0 kW 230 V combines an MDC 230 heating module with a matching 2.0 kW electric immersion heater for operation at 230 V. The bundle is intended for supplementary heat input into central heating systems and is integrated into the heating circuit.
This version is suitable for heating support, frost protection support, emergency heat support, and for utilizing surplus electricity when the system and control technology are appropriately designed. Professional hydraulic and electrical integration remains a prerequisite for safe operation.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 230 module operates as an electric instantaneous water heater or heating module for central heating systems. It is designed for heating water or a suitable glycol mixture up to 50% concentration and features 50 mm thick polyurethane foam insulation.
The TEHP2302 immersion heater provides 2.0 kW of electric heating power at 230 V. It features a tubular Incoloy heating element, a 1 1/2-inch threaded connection, an adjustable operating temperature from 5 to 70 °C, an ECO-POINT function, an operating indicator light, and a safety temperature limiter at 87 °C.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle supports existing heating systems with an electric auxiliary heat source directly in the heating circuit. This allows heat to be introduced into the central heating system as needed, without using a separate additional heat generator as a standalone heating device.
The combination of a matched MDC module and a suitable electric immersion heater is particularly practical: power, voltage, screw-in connection, and minimum flow rate can be clearly classified for this bundle version and taken into account in system planning.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 230 heating module is intended for open or closed central heating systems with suitable safety devices. It is integrated in a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source.
For the 2.0 kW version, a minimum flow rate of 114 l/h is required. An additional circulation pump must be provided for this purpose, which is connected in parallel with the heating cartridge. A safety valve with the appropriate opening pressure is required and is not confirmed as a factory component of the module.

Installation
The heating module is integrated into a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. The pipe routing must allow for complete filling and reliable venting.
Installation, electrical connection, testing, and commissioning may only be carried out by qualified specialist personnel. Before switching on, the system and module must be completely filled and vented; the required minimum flow rate must be ensured by an additional circulation pump.
Notes
The immersion heater must not be operated dry. The electrical supply may only be connected after the module and system have been filled with medium, vented, and checked for leaks.
Fusing, cable cross-section, protective measures, residual current protection, and switching devices must be designed on-site according to power, grid type, and applicable regulations. A functioning safety valve is required; no shut-off valves may be installed between the safety valve and the instantaneous water heater.
