Product Overview & Area of Application
The GEMA MDC PLUS 400 bundle module + heating rod EEHPPV9 9.0 kW 400 V combines an MDC PLUS 400 heating module with a matching electric heating cartridge for supplementary heat input into central heating systems.
The bundle is suitable for heating systems in which electric supplementary heat, supplementary heating, frost protection support, emergency heat support, or the use of surplus PV power as heat in the heating circuit is intended. Proper hydraulic and electrical integration remains crucial here.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC PLUS 400 is an electric heating module, or rather an electric flow heater for central heating systems. It is integrated into the heating circuit and is designed for water or a suitable glycol mixture up to a maximum concentration of 50%.
The EEHPPV9 electric heating cartridge provides 9.0 kW of electric heating output at 3~ 400 V. The output can be set to 3 kW, 6 kW, or 9 kW via the separate 3-step rotary switch. Temperature control operates in the range of approx. 5 to 75 °C; a safety temperature limiter interrupts operation in the event of overheating.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle supports existing heating systems with a clearly defined electric supplementary heat source. This allows heat to be introduced into the heating circuit in a targeted manner when the main heat generator is to be supplemented or temporarily relieved.
The stepwise output selection of the heating cartridge is particularly helpful when the full rated output is not permanently required. Operators thus receive a more adaptable electric supplementary heating system for practical plant operation.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC PLUS 400 is integrated into a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. It is intended for use in open and closed central heating systems with appropriate safety devices.
For operation at 9.0 kW, a minimum flow rate of 514 l/h is required. An additional circulation pump must be provided and connected in parallel to the heating cartridge. The safety valve, electrical protection, control connection, and necessary installation materials must be professionally checked on the system side.

Installation
The heating module must be professionally integrated into the heating circuit. The pipe routing must ensure safe filling, venting, and flow through the system. An additional circulation pump is required for operation to maintain the necessary minimum flow rate.
Installation, electrical connection and commissioning may only be carried out by qualified specialists. Before switching on, the system and module must be completely filled and vented.
Notes
Dry running must be avoided, as this can damage the heating element. The heating cartridge may only be operated once the heating element is fully immersed in the medium and the minimum flow rate is ensured.
The device does not replace proper system planning, heat load calculation or electrical sizing. The safety valve, circulation pump, fuse protection, cable cross-section and control connection must be designed and checked to suit the system.
