Areas of application

The SPS stratified buffer storage tank is designed for use in heating, solid fuel, and solar systems, as well as combined heat and power plants. It ensures efficient temperature stratification and provides usable energy as needed from different heat sources.

Thanks to the optimized feed-in and return flow, the storage tank is suitable for both individual systems and for series connection of several buffer storage tanks, for example in larger building concepts or combined energy supplies.

material & construction

The tank is made of high-quality steel S235JRG2 according to DIN 4753 and European standard EN 12897. The interior of the container is left raw, the exterior is factory-primed and stands on a stable base ring.

To improve stratification, stratification channels and a welded-in stratification plate are integrated. The sleeves are arranged at a 90° angle, simplifying the installation and connection of multiple storage tanks.

Technical features

The storage tank is designed for a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar and features two sockets for electric heating cartridges. Additional connections are positioned to ensure optimal return flow and maintain temperature stratification.

The design reduces thermal mixing and thus enables high usability of the stored heat across different temperature zones.

Insulation variants

Several insulation options are available for the SPS buffer tank: 100 mm STS EPS (efficiency class C), 130 mm STS EPS AirPor® (efficiency class B), or 150 mm PU super rigid foam (efficiency class A) for tank sizes from 600 to 1000 liters. All insulation options are supplied with a silver-gray plastic cover and a sealing strip.

The insulation is designed to fit precisely and be removable to facilitate installation and maintenance. Depending on the design, this can significantly reduce heat loss.

EPS AirPor® gray polystyrene foam

EPS AirPor® insulation combines polystyrene foam with graphite admixture, resulting in improved heat reflection and reduced heat loss. The 130 mm version (110 mm EPS + 20 mm fleece) complies with efficiency class B, while the 100 mm version (80 mm EPS + 20 mm fleece) complies with efficiency class C.

Advantages include up to 30% reduced heat loss compared to conventional insulation materials, easy and quick installation, 100% recyclability, and additional floor and roof insulation. Thermal conductivity is 0.0316 W/mK according to DIN EN 12667; fire protection class according to DIN 4102: B2.

PU super rigid foam insulation

The PU super rigid foam insulation offers excellent insulation properties with a 150 mm insulation thickness and achieves energy efficiency class A. It consists of 150 mm polyurethane combined with 10 mm polyester fiber fleece and is provided with a PS jacket RAL 9006.

The fleece lamination minimizes convection losses on the container wall, lid, and sleeves. The insulation is removable, skin-friendly, environmentally friendly, and also 100% recyclable. Thermal conductivity according to DIN EN 12667: 0.023 W/mK; fire protection class DIN 4102: B2.

Assembly && Installation

The pre-assembled 90° couplings enable simple and secure connection to heating circuits and convenient connection of multiple storage tanks to battery packs. The stand-ring design facilitates on-site installation.

Thanks to removable insulation and precisely fitting closure strips, installation is quick and easy to maintain.Two sockets for electric heating cartridges allow the use of additional electric reheating if required.
